Have
Your Cake and Eat it Too

SimpsonScarborough
exhibited at the National
Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) conference
in Baltimore last week and brought along a sweet treat!
Thanks to our baker, Stephanie
Baker (yes..that really IS her name), our booth featured a cake
in the shape of a college campus.

The cake drew more people to our booth than we could have ever
expected and sparked some great conversation - the best of which
allowed us to introduce our company, reconnect with old friends, and
increase the overall awareness of our company's brand...that we work
hard and play hard, all while having fun!

more about our time at NACAC here.

We're On a
Roll
Two weeks ago the SimpsonScarborough
team gathered for a company retreat at the Bavarian
Inn located in Shepherdstown, WV. The meeting gave us the
opportunity to talk about the firm's activities this past
quarter and the path we're taking for the months ahead - all couched
within the themes of innovation and versatility. But, true to
our nature, we made room for fun with a kayaking trip and a
segway tour of Antietam Battlefield.

You
Must Walk Before You
Run
|

|
|

|
Our friend, Dr. James Birge, President of Franklin
Pierce University, recently sent us a video of FPU students
sharing their experiences walking across Europe during the
University's "Pierce Walk in Europe." The video and
"the Walk" moved us so much that we just had to share!
President Birge said it best when he told us, "As I
watch the video of the Pierce Walk in Europe and talk with people who
have been on the Walk, I can't help but think I wish I had
had that opportunity when I was in college. Imagine how powerful it
is to take classes on European history or the origins of American
culture and then walk
to and spend
the night in those places! The Walk is also a powerful
indicator of our University's efforts to expose students to cultures
different than their own, to help them become more connected to world
events, and to appreciate the gifts they have that allow them to
travel in Europe for three and a half months, while
studying."
Watch
the video - and get ready to break out your sneakers!

SimpsonScarborough Book Club
|

|
|

|
The leaves are starting to turn and so are the pages of
this month's book club pick, Purple
Cow: Transform Your Business by Being Remarkable by
Seth Godin.
Cows, after you've seen one, or two, or ten, are boring. A Purple
Cow, though...now that would be something.
Every day, consumers come face to face with a lot of boring stuff (a
lot of brown cows) but you can bet they won't forget a Purple Cow.
And it's not a marketing function that you can slap on to your
product or service. Purple Cow is inherent. It's built right in, or
it's not there.
This book urges you to put a "Purple Cow" into
everything you build, and everything you do, to create something truly
noticeable. It's a manifesto for marketers who want to help create
products that are worth marketing in the first place.
